Yves Saint Laurent was a revolutionary designer who left and indeniable mark on the fashion industry and a legacy as the king of fashion designers, who created a masterpiece of a brand that simply keeps growing. Following a stint at fashion school, Yves Saint Laurent worked at Christian Dior and became art director for Dior where he launched his first collection for the company, the Ligne Trapeze. This was a resounding success and won him a Neiman Marcus Oscar. This success led him to set up his own fashion house with Pierre Berge and in 1966, he introduced le smoking - his legendary smoking suit. His other inventions include the reefer jacket (1962), the sheer blouse (1966), and the jumpsuit (1968).
